Governor's Office — records on removing the medical tent and concreting the UVU courtyard: $351 bill, nothing released (260716AB1)
What we asked for: any Governor's Office records from September 10 – October 15, 2025 — emails, orders, meeting notes, or coordination with UVU, the FBI, or the Utah Department of Public Safety — about removing the medical tent and digging up, resurfacing, or concreting the UVU courtyard where the September 10, 2025 shooting happened. The request notes that the excavation contractor has said publicly the work was ordered by the FBI and the Governor, and asks for written confirmation if no such records exist.
What we got: a bill, no records, and no statement on whether any records exist. On July 17, 2026 the office said it will not start searching until $351.00 is paid: 4.6 hours of estimated staff time at $60 an hour ($276.00) plus a $75.00 out-of-state filing fee (invoice GO‑071726‑0087, due August 3, 2026). The office's email adds that paying "does not entitle you to access any records," and that the final cost may differ from the estimate.
Fee waiver: refused Jul 17, 2026 (faster answer also refused); appeal to the Chief of Staff turned down Aug 5, 2026 as final.
